Courteney Cox: Older Women Are 'Better and Stronger'

ABC

Some Hollywood stars might be offended by being called a "cougar." But not Courteney Cox.

The star of the new ABC comedy Cougar Town, who's been married to seven-years-younger David Arquette for the past decade, thinks women should date who they want, regardless of age.

"I don't understand why it's okay for a man to date a younger girl, but it's not okay for a woman in her 40s to date a man in his early 30s or late 20s," she says. And her character agrees.

Courteney plays a newly divorced mom, Jules, who isn't afraid to go after younger men, embarrassing her teenage son in the process. And on the show -- which premieres tonight at 9:30 p.m. -- and in real life, the 45-year-old former Friend proves that you don't have to be in your 20s to be sexy.

"People are taking better care of themselves," Courteney says. "I don't know why women are looking better, but they are. We're feeling more confident and better and stronger."
