Did you watch Lady Gaga and The Muppets' Thanksgiving special? If so, that makes three of us. Despite a pretty great roster of guest stars -- including Kristen Bell, RuPaul, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and, obviously, Kermit and friends -- the ABC holiday special tanked in the ratings. Personally, we were a little bit "meh" on the whole thing, which skimped on Christmas songs and Muppets in favor of promoting every single song from Gaga's album ArtPop. (She sang "Applause" twice. Not kidding.)
However -- there were a few great moments. Many of them came courtesy of Kristen Bell, whose interactions with the Muppets were funny and charming. The musical highlight, though, was Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lady Gaga's duet of a Christmas class: "Baby It's Cold Outside." Watch the song below! (And keep watching for some Kristen Bell delightfulness.)
See, why couldn't the whole special have been like that? We love watching Gordon-Levitt do his old Hollywood song-and-dance schtick. (Get that guy in a musical. Seriously. Now.) And hearing Gaga sing some standards is a nice change of pace. Plus, did you notice that they reversed the roles? Gaga's singing the traditionally male portion of the song, and Gordon-Levitt is doing the female one. It's pretty perfect.
That, plus more Muppets and more holiday cheer, would have made Gaga's special great. In that spirit, here are two of our favorite Muppet videos from Christmases past.
