VIDEO: Want to Annoy Emma Thompson? Call Her a Cougar!

The Nanny McPhee Returns star explains why she hates the "predatory label" and why her own childhood nanny was a "witch"

Emma Thompson's husband, actor Greg Wise is seven years her junior -- an age difference which just barely places her in cougar territory. But don't even think about using the C-word around the 51-year-old actress.

"I hate that. I just hate all that rubbish," she tells iVillage exclusively. "What do we call men who take younger people? Just men, aren't they? They don't have to have this sort of predatory label attached to them."

The star of Nanny McPhee Returns (which hits theaters Aug. 20) also reveals a distaste for her own childhood nanny. "She was a witch!" she says. "And she ate my Meltis New Berry Fruits, which were nice soft sweeties that I was given by somebody when I had my tonsils out...I ran away from home because of her."

Luckily, Thompson's bad nanny experience growing up didn't keep her from wanting to turn the Nanny McPhee children's books into a movie. "I read so much when I was little," says the mom of two (to 23-year-old adoptive son Tindyebwa and daughter Gaia, 10). "And I looked at them again about 20 years later, and I thought, 'This would make a very interesting movie.'"

Watch our exclusive video interview to find out why parenting has gotten easier for Thompson and the appeal of working with child actors.
