Kim Kardashian definitely won't be competing with Lady Gaga and Rihanna for Grammys any time soon. But we've got to hand it to her for trying -- and not taking herself too seriously.
Ryan Seacrest debuted Kardashian's new Auto-Tune-heavy song, "Jam," on Wednesday morning on his radio show. And while it's not exactly vocal genius, it's not a bad dance track. As far as reality-stars-turned-pop singers go, we'd rank Kardashian safely above Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton and most of the Real Housewives stars.
But maybe Kardashian's appeal is coming more from her realistic attitude than her singing voice.
Kim recognizes that singing isn't her strong suit and admits she was shocked when she was approached by songwriter-producer The-Dream. "He said, 'Let’s just have fun. Let’s donate the proceeds, let’s just have fun with it -- don’t take yourself seriously. Try something you’ve never done before,'" Kardashian told Seacrest.
And Kardashian is doing just that. All proceeds from the song will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
As for a live performance, Kardashian isn't so sure the world is ready to hear her belt it out. Instead, she says she'll stick to singing "in my shower -- in the house."
