Waiting after Weaning

I stopped breastfeeding almost seven weeks ago. I breastfed until my daughter was four months old and took about two weeks to wean her. I still have not had my period and would not be worried except that my husband and I would like to try for another baby when she turns one. How long should it take for me to start again? Also, is one year too soon to try after the first?

Question:

One year is perfectly reasonable spacing between delivery and conception again. I tell women to expect their first period in six to eight weeks from complete weaning, so just sit tight and wait.
