Walmart Recalls 900,000 GE Coffee Makers

Walmart and the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a voluntary recall of the General Electric branded 12-cup Digital Coffee Maker (model numbers: 169164, 169165). Walmart received over 80 reports of the coffee maker overheating, smoking, melting, and even starting fires. Several customers reported burns, and others have made claims of significant fire damage to their homes.

The coffee makers were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide from March 2008 through January 2010 and cost about $30.

If you own one of these machines, Walmart and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is imploring you to stop using it immediately and return it to any Walmart store for a full refund.
