Wardrobe Wallet Saver: Trapeze Dresses

One dress, two totally different looks

I've always thought belts and ribbons (or really anything that cinches a waist) had the power to make any dress or tucked-in top look instantly more polished. But up until today, I hadn't considered how removing them could have the exact same effect!

Take this Cake From Scratch Dress ($73.99 at Modcloth) for instance. I love the way this sheer tiered number looks tied up with its' matching ribbon, but take a glance at it without the tie (it's the second picture from the right here). Is it just me or do these look like two completely different dresses?!

As an experienced cinch-er, I can vouch for the fact that this kind of transformation rarely works with anything but a trapeze style dress because of the two vastly different shapes you can create with a simple tie. And I really do think that with the right accessories this could be worn two weeks in a row and no one would even notice. Which to me, makes each piece look only about $37 each. A total steal!

How would you style this dress to make each look unique? Chime in below!
