Was Your Pregnancy Planned or a Surprise, Like Kate Hudson's?

Kate Hudson’s camp confirmed to Us Weekly that she's pregnant with Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy’s baby. The rumor? It was unplanned.

"It was not planned, but they are excited and embracing it," an unnamed source told the magazine. Sound familiar? Last week the internet was abuzz with Natalie Portman’s baby news, everyone speculating whether the pregnancy (announced along what seems like a sudden engagement) was planned.

My guess is that babies are surprises more often than not. But, that doesn’t mean that finding a plus sign on a pregnancy test is unwelcome or unwanted. Moms who didn't think they wanted to get pregnant certainly don't love their kids any less. In fact, I often hear people say they believe their unplanned pregnancy was fate. Maybe there’s a certain bond parents have when they think their child was meant to come into this world, in spite of their immediate plans.
