Do you have hundreds of Facebook friends -- many of whom you don't even know? Well, Jimmy Kimmel says it's time to let most of them go. The talk show host has called for Nov. 17 to be National Unfriend Day (NUD), when social network users go through their friend lists and eliminate those who aren't really their true pals.

"Remember five years ago when nobody was on Facebook and you didn’t know what the guy you took high school biology with was having for lunch?" Kimmel says. "Remember how that was totally fine? Let’s go back to that."

Kimmel even gets William Shatner in on the unfriending movement. "These people on Facebook? They're not you're friends," the $#*! My Dad Says star says. "It's hard."

Making one last plea, Kimmel says, "Please, on Nov.17, pull some weeds out of your life."
