Cooing, those sweet "aahhh" sounds, are a sure sign that baby is secure and comforted by you. "If she has a social smile (meaning she isn't grinning because of gas or an involuntary reflex), can follow movement with her eyes, and can coo, that definitely shows a responsiveness to her parents," says Dr. Andrew Hertz, a pediatrician at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland. And responsiveness equals love.
