Our wedding was inspired by: We got married in the end of September near Hudson, NY, in a small barn next to a 19th century farmhouse. The barn and the region really set the tone for the whole event, which was small, warm and casual. Instead of a fancy cake we had seasonal pies from a local baker. Dinner was BBQ with comfort side dishes. Rather than a wedding band, a couple of our talented friends played guitar and sang songs. We ended the night with a big bonfire under the starry sky. We had so much fun -- I wish we could do it again every year!

Something I love about my husband: He never hesitates to help a friend, neighbor or stranger in need.
We had a small barn wedding and I made table cloths out of quilting fabric -- this is from Denise Schmidt’s Katie Jumping Rope collection. (Afterwards, my talented sister-in-law used it to make a beautiful quilt for us!)
On each table was a collection of birch bark tubes with a vase of freshly cut wild flowers.
My dear friend Allyson lent me this gorgeous beaded handbag. I never gave it back.
Every bride-to-be has to purchase some special makeup for the night. I got myself a collection of Laura Mercier products, including a slate-blue eyeliner and a blush-rose eye tint.
Every guest received a vintage salt-n-pepper shaker as a favor on their plates. We had so much fun gathering them and matching them to our friends’ personalities. Chad and I kept this sweet Indian couple for ourselves.
For our “topper” my husband commissioned an artist to do a folksy woodcarving of the two of us. It was an homage to my grandfather, a great woodcarver himself, who passed away just 10 days before our wedding.
We got married at the end of September, and there was a chill in the air when the sun went down. I kept this beaded cashmere blend cardigan handy to wear over my dress once the sun set.
