Without giving yourself anytime to think, write down 10 things that immediately come into your mind on what you love about your garden. Look over your list. Now decide on one item and expand on it. Why do you love it? Why does this area make you proud? Has that area of your garden been a challenge? Has it been easy?
The purpose in this exercise is to open you up to yourself and your own thoughts about your garden.
You could write about how you like the fact that you have a small garden because it allows you to manage it well. You could write about how you love being situated in a woodland setting or about how you love the smells of your roses when they come into bloom.
Just let your thoughts come out freely. Don’t censor yourself. Also, don't worry about grammar or even sentence structure at this point. Just express yourself in your own unique style and the rest will come.
And if you are feeling a bit of fear as you are embarking on this journey, you are in good company. All of us experience flashes of it as we sit with an empty piece of paper wishing we could fill it up. But gently nudge the fear to the sideline and tell yourself that (((you can do this))) and let your pen begin to write down any thoughts that come to mind. Remember to let your brain free associate with anything that you love about your garden. And I promise you that you will be surprised at what comes out of your soul.
