Fetal Development Week 36: See Your Baby Grow

This is a close-up of baby in the “head-down” birthing position. Although both her kidneys and liver are fully mature and can process some waste products, her digestive system won’t really kick in until she takes those first sips of breast milk. By now, your baby will probably have moved into a head down position in preparation for labor. However not every baby is so cooperative. If your baby decides not to turn, your doctor may try to turn her himself (a procedure called inversion) or suggest delivering by c-section.
