Today, I told a woman she has beautiful hair. And she reached up, touched her curls, and smiled. Complimenting strangers is one of my favorite things to do - what a mental pick-me-up for both the giver AND receiver!
I'm not sure how many of you are participating in the NeverSayDiet Communuity Challenge but it's almost Week 6! Last week, my assignment was exactly what I did today:
"Compliment another woman every day this week. This is my favorite tip and I do it myself all the time. Too often, women are catty or think negatively of each other simply because. Tell the barista she has beautiful eyes; let your doctor know how much you appreciate her skill. Trust me—it will make her day… and yours, too."
I'd like to challenge all readers, even those who are not dieting, not watching their weight, not participating in any sort of challenge, to do this. Make another woman's day and tell her you love her shoes...or that her eyes are the prettiest shade of green...or that her pregnant belly makes you smile (I said this to a pregnant lady at my gym just last month - it was true! Watching her on the treadmill, 7-month-belly and all, really made me grin!) And karma came around and paid me back a week ago - after getting off the StepMill at the gym, an older man who had been working out next to me but at a slower pace called out to me, "You're my hero!" Slightly clueless, I looked up at him and asked,"Why do you say that?" and he said, "Anyone who can do 40 minutes on this thing with such great posture without passing out is my hero." Swoon!)
