This week started on a wonderful note. I called two close friends and told them of our great news. Both were excited for us. One is pregnant herself and due six weeks before me. It is this friend's son whom I'm watching this week. We're excited to know that these babies will be nearly as close in age as our sons are so continued get-togethers can prove rewarding for parents and children alike!
Unfortunately, this week also brought on increased pregnancy symptoms. Fatigue continued to plague me day and night. At night I found myself not sleeping well, in part because Jacob was cutting his two upper teeth and wanted to use me as a human teething ring. But, my restless sleep was due mostly to the fact that I found every possible position uncomfortable. I tried every pillow I have, but hesitate to use too many as Jacob is still nestling at my side all night. It seems to me that this is about three weeks earlier than I noticed the discomfort last time around, but I'm not surprised as I've already had to retire all my clothes and opt for the elastic waist variety. We're trying to keep the pregnancy somewhat quiet until the risk of miscarriage is somewhat lessened by time, so now the struggle to downplay a growing belly begins!
Monday began bright and early with the arrival of my friend's son. After a very uneventful day he went home and Jacob and I turned in quite early. Tuesday morning began much the same way, but by mid afternoon I began to wonder whether I could make it through the day, let alone the coming three days. Fortunately, both boys decided to nap at the same time and I was able to rest a bit myself.
