Pregnancy journal: Week thirty-eight, end of the line?

With my 38 weeks up and this baby already full-term we got desperate. Rob and I took Jacob to dinner at a restaurant known to serve spicy fajitas and took our time driving down bumpy roads on the way home. This sure brought on contractions but they still felt “fake.” It made me sick and the next morning I was still very much pregnant.

So, the week ended. Week 38 is over and I’m still pregnant. There were two little bits of good news. I’ve gained only 22 pounds this pregnancy. This is within normal limits, but far from the 55 I gained with Jacob. Second, we’ve finally chosen names. If it’s a boy we’re going with Hayden Carl. Hayden because I liked it and so did Rob, and Carl after Rob’s maternal grandfather who passed away just over a year ago. If it’s a girl, Haley Deborah. Haley was chosen because Rob liked it and Deborah because in my family the eldest daughter is traditionally given the mother’s first name as a middle name. Truthfully, I’m still not 100 percent sure of the name Haley. I didn’t like it, then I did, then I was okay with it. Now I’m trying to think of the baby as either Hayden or Haley and they’re both growing on me.

So, now we wait for little Hayden or Haley. What more can we do?
