We’ve spent our nighttime pillow conversations this week discussing the baby’s birth, what will happen to Mommy at the hospital and how, when it’s all over, he’ll have a new little brother or sister to love forever. He’s quite sure that the baby is a girl, which I find funny because each time I mention that he could have a little boy he tells me, “No, baby girl.” We’ll see. He’s also convinced that the baby will come out of my ribs. I think this stems from my answer to one of the doctor’s questions. When asked if the baby was active and if I felt all right I responded that yes, it was very active and that I’d feel better if it would stop trying to come out my ribs. Guess who was listening? I’ve explained to him that the baby has a special spot where it will come out near Mommy’s legs but he’s set on seeing it burst out my ribs. We’ve talked quite a bit about things that happened while Jacob was in Mommy’s tummy and he’s excited to tell the baby all about its birth.
On a followup note from last week, the closet making is coming along. We’ve purchased more materials than I ever dreamed necessary to build a garage closet. We have also purchased materials to build a dresser-type organizer in the baby’s room. Now we’re awaiting Rob’s added time off and the arrival of one grandmother to watch Jacob while we work. I’ve called the doctor’s office twice to confirm that there is no problem with me working in an area previously inhabited by our resident mouse and they’ve assured me that as long as I wear rubber gloves and wash my hands thoroughly all should be well. I was afraid that the bacteria would be airborne, as with cat litter, but I’ve been told that it will be safe. So, with any luck I’ll have more to report from a clean house next week.
