I tend to get caught unawares whenever bad weather hits -- always finding myself in a pair of vintage heels during a total downpour, or hastily grabbing an umbrella that once opened is found to be broken beyond repair. Don't you hate when that happens?
Part of the problem is that I just don't own most of the necessary gear to handle this kind of weather appropriately. I'm determined to beat the next storm to the punch though and the first thing on my shopping list: rain boots.
Well, maybe not actual boots. I think those are great options for fall or spring, but they're just too tall and clunky for the current hot and humid conditions. I need something that gives me a bit more breathing space, you know? And I think these Fit Sandals ($28 at Havianas) might just be the solution. They're plastic which means they won't get ruined if they're doused with some serious rain drop-age and unlike normal flip-flops they have an adjustable strap so they'll won't slip off. What I like best though is that they're small enough to throw into a handbag or to keep in a desk drawer at work so I'll always have something on hand no matter what the weather.
