Beware of flying tables, because things are about to get shaken up on The Real Housewives of New Jersey! According to reports, there are going to be some casting changes on the Bravo reality hit -- which may mean saying goodbye to some familiar faces (Caroline Manzo), bringing in some new ones, and welcoming back some controversial ones (Danielle Staub?). Only one thing seems certain: Teresa Giudice, the source of all of last season's drama, isn't going anywhere!
Radar Online reports that Bravo will be letting go of two Jersey housewives in order to hire three more. On the chopping block, allegedly, are Caroline Manzo and Kathy Wakile. While Wakile failed to make much of an impression in her first and only season, Manzo has been a major cast member since the show premiered in 2009. (She also has an advice book coming out next year. Bad timing!)
The website names the three new housewives as Noelle Brescia, Gia Casey and Priscilla DiStasio. Reportedly, they're all friends of Teresa, which would give the Skinny Italian author some leverage against remaining cast members Jacqueline Laurita and Melissa Gorga -- both of whom stopped speaking to her last season. Kim DePaola, the owner of the Posche boutique and another member of Team Teresa, is also said to be returning.
And then, there's the wild card. Danielle Staub, who was fired from the show after season 2, is rumored to also be returning for part or all of season 5. In Touch reports that the drama-loving ex-model has been offered a Bravo contract. "The producers squeezed all the juice they could from the Giudices-versus-Gorgas story line and had to think of a fresh outlet for drama," says the magazine's source. "Having [Danielle] back on will ruffle a lot of feathers!" It certainly would, but it doesn't seem like a sure thing; TMZ reported last month that Bravo had no plans to bring back Staub.
Bravo hasn't commented on the casting rumors. It does seem inevitable, however, that there will be one new cast member that everybody hates: Hurricane Sandy. The devastating storm didn't spare the cast members' beach houses; the Gorgas' Jersey Shore home was hit by a tree, while the Giudices' home was flooded. Since the cameras have reportedly started rolling, we expect to see at least one episode about the Jersey housewives -- whoever they may be! -- picking up the pieces.
