The Werewolf Trend: Oh Yes, It's Happening

Universal Pictures

With the cinematic vampire trend reaching its apex, something's gotta come next. We've already done zombies. SNL put in a solid bid for Frankenstein, and Paranormal Activity may yield some ghosts. But like it or not, the next big supernatural film trend is already here -- and it's also tied into Twilight. That's right: werewolves. Here are a few upcoming features that will star those furry beasts:

The Wolfman
This high-budget Victorian goth-fest features a lupine Benicio del Toro, along with Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Anthony Hopkins. Coming to theaters in February.

The Howling: Reborn
A remake of the cheeky 1981 horror movie about a TV news anchor who retreats to the woods to recover from trauma -- only to be stalked by werewolves. Coming to theaters next Halloween.

An American Werewolf in London: 3D
The classic John Landis film, which raised the bar for horror special effects, will be remade -- with an extra dimension! -- by Miramax.

Teen Wolf
Technically, this is a TV show, but since it's based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox film, we'll count it here. MTV has ordered a pilot for a "dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element." And one of them, presumably, has a lot of body hair.

Watch Jacob transform into a wolf in New Moon.
