A: The best foods for fighting fat are:

1. Grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Grapefruits contain a flavonoid called naringenin which decreases blood sugar level and reprograms the liver to burn excess fat rather than store it. (Research by Murray Huff The University of Western Ontario)

 2. Green Vegetables such as spinach, collard greens,  asparagus and broccoli. All are high in fiber, which slows down the absorption of sugar into the blood stream and helps you feel full so you can continue to burn fat.

3.  Raw salmon, tuna or other cold water fish (sushi or sashimi-style). These fish are loaded with healthy fish oils and Omega-3 fatty acids which help transport oxygen to the mitochondria in the muscle cell for the fat burning process. Fish are also loaded with protein which will help keep your blood sugar level down so your body will burn its own fat as a fuel source.

 4. Whole Grains such as brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal, whole wheat and bran. They are loaded with fiber to help you feel full and will give you sustained energy throughout the day. These whole grains will slow down the absorption of sugar into the blood stream so you will continue to burn your body fat as a fuel source.
