Just call him the Guy With the Mysterious Tattoo. Zac Efron is sporting some new ink on the outside of his hand, and close-up photos of him promoting the movie New Year's Eve in Tokyo show it says "YOLO."
So does YOLO refer to a name -- or perhaps to Drake's song "The Motto"? Turns out, it's neither. The 24-year-old hunk's tattoo stands for "You Only Live Once." (It's sort of like "Carpe Diem," for those who remember the popularity of the Latin phrase following Dead Poets Society).
Perhaps the YOLO motto was what motivated Efron to suggest his New Year's Eve character really kiss Michelle Pfeiffer -- a smooch that wasn't in the original script.
"It's the best part of the movie!" Efron told the Today show about locking lips with his much older (but still gorgeous) costar. "In the original script it was a little softer. New Year’s Eve magic, it’s about love."
Coincidentally, Efron's former girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens has a tattoo on nearly the exact same spot on her hand. Hers boasts the symbol for "Om." Apparently the exes think alike.
