A teen’s imagination can take him to dark places. “Are my parents going to keep their jobs?” may be a major fear if he’s wondering how college will get paid for. Instead of waving off concerns, ask him what he’s really worried about and why.  Assure him that you’re on top of things and point out signs that you’ll be OK. It’s a discussion that will breed confidence—in both of you.
