I have a new favorite TV show.
Last night I couldn't sleep, so I turned to my trusty friend: my television. I started flipping through the channels and noticed that the Fine Living Network's Whatever, Martha! was airing repeats. I'd heard about this show before -- Alexis Stewart (Martha's daughter) and her friend, Jennifer Koppelman Hutt -- make fun of Martha Stewart Living. Sounded interesting, so I thought I'd check it out.
From the moment I turned it on, I was laughing hysterically. Alexis and Jennifer don't hold back. They're incredibly amusing, truthful, and yet, somehow, not mean. For example, in an episode about how to make s'mores, Martha takes out her trusty Swiss Army knife and whittles a point at the end of her "wonderful campfire marshmallow roasting stick." This infuriates Jennifer and Alexis as they cry out, "You don't have to whittle! Just shove the marshmallow on! This is dangerous!"
Taking it a step further, Martha sandpapers the end of the stick to smooth it out. Alexis then says, "That's outrageous. Why? So the marshmallow doesn't get a splinter?"
I could go on and tell you the episode line by line, but you get the idea. It's true comedy.
As I mentioned, I couldn't sleep last night, but I thought my boyfriend was passed out. A few minutes into watching the show, I heard an outburst of giggles. I looked over in confusion as I noticed my boyfriend sit up and say, "What are you watching? I can't stop laughing." Yes, that's right, ladies, you can watch a show on Fine Living Network with your man and he'll love it as much as you do.
