What's the Deal with President Obama's New Children's Book?

President Obama is penning another book, but unlike his bestsellers, Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope, this book will live in the children’s section. Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters, will highlight the lives of historic figures including George Washington, Jackie Robinson and Georgia O’Keeffe. Meant to inspire and instill hope in American children, it will help educate them on history as well. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund for children of military service-men and -women who've been killed or injured.

We love this idea (although we still can't figure out how he had the time to run the country and write a book. We can barely take care of our kids and get a shower in.) And frankly, what child’s bookcase couldn’t use a book of hope, fortitude and perseverance?  I may have to move some Captain Underpants and Walter the Farting Dog books aside, but it definitely will have a place on my kid’s shelves.

The book is scheduled to be released on November 16, just two weeks after the midterm elections, though it was written before Obama took office in January 2009.
