What's for Dinner: Baked Barbecue Sauce Chicken

This family-friendly dish requires just a few minutes of work -- you whip up a quick barbecue sauce, pour it over chicken pieces and pop the casserole in the oven. It's the closest thing to instant BBQ that we know of.

Servings: 6

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 1/2 pounds skinless chicken pieces
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the margarine. Add the onion to the skillet.

Put the chicken in a casserole dish.

Add the remaining ingredients to the onion and boil for 3 minutes. Pour over the chicken. Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour.

A casserole with a glass lid lets you check on dinner without lifting the cover. Shop for a glass lid casserole.
