Food writer Elizabeth David thought she had found the "most revolting dish ever devised" in a 1940s cookbook—a recipe for an Italian salad. Our community members tried to top it with even more revolting dishes of their own.
"My mother used to make Jell-O salads for festive occasions, and it took me over 40 years to talk her out of them... She arranged stuffed olives in the ridges in the bottom of her ring mold. Then mixed shredded cabbage and carrots (and I'm not sure what else) [went] into the lime Jell-O. Once unmolded, a large dollop of mayo (or more likely a generic Miracle Whip product) was deposited in the center hole to garnish."
