Wheel of Fortune has been everyone’s favorite wheel-spinning, letter-guessing, Hyundai-Sonata-giving game show since it debuted in 1975, but after Tuesday night's episode Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been getting a bit of heat.
After having the Wheel land on a fortune (i.e. the “Million Dollar” pie piece) contestant Paul decided to “solve” the puzzle where only one letter remained missing. Paul excitedly shouted out “CORNER CURIO CABINET,” but was subsequently buzzed as incorrect for mispronouncing the first two (already solved) words of the puzzle. Pat moved on to the next contestant who excitedly shouted out “CORNER CURIO CABINET” and was subsequently given the points! Check it out below:
Host Sajak went on to tell Paul, “It just didn’t come out how you intended it.” But, um, it seems pretty obvious what Paul was saying to anyone who watches the above clip.
Still, many-an-interneter have pointed out that it was a moot point as, in order to win the million, Paul would have had to correctly solve the final puzzle, which would be difficult to do considering he didn’t finish in first. And who’s to say winning this puzzle wouldn’t have led to a momentum shift for the bow-tie clad contestant? Pat, we’d like to buy a vowel…and a time machine.
