I have known women who tell me that they knew they were pregnant the next day, but this is unusual.

A study published in the July 2002 issue of the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology stated that for most women, pregnancy symptoms start abruptly six weeks after the last menstrual period -- when your period is about two weeks late.

Of course every women is so different. The missed period is usually the first sign, which happens two weeks after conception if a woman's cycles are regular. Breast tenderness usually begins about three weeks after conception with frequent urination and nausea starting at about four weeks after conception. A pregnancy test could be positive at the time the period is due or during the following week.
