A jar of homemade cocoa mix makes a lovely gift, but once you mix up this ultrarich blend with white chocolate and mint, you might want to keep it all for yourself. To crush the peppermint candy, put the unwrapped pieces in a heavy-duty Ziploc bag and let your kids crush it with the bottom of a pan or with a large C or D battery.

|2 1/2 cups nonfat dry milk powder||3/4 cup white chocolate chips|
|3/4 cup sugar||1/2 cup crushed candy cane or peppermint crumbs|
|1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa|
Combine all the ingredients. Store in a large jar or in a Ziploc bag.
To make a serving of cocoa, heat 8 ounces milk or hot water. Stir in a heaping 1/4 cup of the mixture, shaking the jar or container first to be sure you get some white chocolate chips and crushed candy in each serving.
