The Man Behind the Gingerbread White House!

What a treat - yes, pun intended! We ran into Bill Yosses, White House Executive Pastry Chef, and one of the masterminds behind this year's Gingerbread White House -- the fourth one Yosses has created for the Obamas. He and Assistant Pastry Chef Susie Morrison spent more than six weeks crafting this work of art, using about 175 pounds of special gingerbread and 50 pounds of white chocolate, along with rye, buckwheat and whole wheat flour. It doesn't exactly look white and there is a reason for that. It was designed to match the color of the people's house before it was painted white back in 1798 to protect the stone!
