Rep Denies Whitney Houston Is in Rehab

The singer is plagued by rumors that drug struggles are affecting her performances -- but are rumors all she's battling?

Whitney Houston's rep is slamming reports that the singer is back on drugs and about to enter a rehab facility.

"Whitney is not headed to rehab," her lawyer, Marty Singer, tells UsMagazine.com. "She is headed to Paris, where she will be continuing her world tour."

The National Enquirer recently published a cover story claiming that the 46-year-old had suffered a "horrifying backstage collapse" while on tour, but Singer calls the tale "ridiculous. It did not happen."

"It is ironic that at the same time that the Enquirer claims it is deserving of a Pulitzer for journalism [for breaking the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter affair story], the tabloid is continuously publishing stories comprised of brazen lies cobbled together from claims made from anonymous sources," Singer said.

In late February, Houston was slammed by critics for her performance in Australia, after which the Grammy winner was described as "breathless and exhausted during the show, and was said to have looked disoriented. Carrying a towel at times, the superstar singer reportedly failed to properly name some of her backing band as she introduced them to the arena, and she took numerous breaks to restore her energy."
