After this week's movie night, another contestant was eliminated on The X Factor, narrowing down the field of talented hopefuls to the season's Top Ten. So who made the cut?
Was the second act to go one of judge Simon Cowell's girls, Paula Abdul's groups, Nicole Scherzinger's over-30 musicians or L.A. Reid's guys?
Abdul just isn't having a good season so far, as the bottom two consisted of the all-guy group Stereo Hogzz and the all-girl group Lakoda Rayne, both of which are under her mentorship.
"It is a nightmare situation," said Paula, who also had two groups in the bottom two last week. (Stereo Hogzz ultimately won, and InTENsity was sent packing.)
In their last effort to impress the judges, the women of Lakoda Rayne sang Jordin Sparks' "No Air" and Stereo Hogzz performed Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone." After the two groups performed their "sing-off" for the judges, Reid and Scherzinger selected Stereo Hogzz to go home, causing Abdul to become understandably emotional.
When it came time for Abdul to choose, she said, "I'm not going to do this. I'm too close to both acts." But host Steve Jones quickly pointed out that by not voting, she'd be automatically sending home Stereo Hogzz because their two votes from Reid and Scherzinger would make up a majority of the three remaining judges. So, in order to leave the final decision up to Simon, a tearful Paula eventually voted against Lakoda Rayne. Cowell then did the dirty work of casting the deciding vote and sent Stereo Hogzz packing.
If Abdul's acts continue to have such awful luck, the ladies of Lakoda Rayne will have to step it up next week to escape yet another bottom-dwelling battle to stay in the competition.
The Top 10 competitors are: Lakoda Rayne, Astro, Drew, LeRoy Bell, Rachel Crow, Chris Rene, Stacy Francis, Marcus Canty, Josh Krajcik and Melanie Amaro.
