Justin Bieber had big plans for his 19th birthday, reserving the VIP section of a swanky London club. So how did he end up at McDonald's instead?
"Worst birthday," the pop star tweeted on Friday night.
Things started to go awry after Bieber arrived at the Cirque du Soir club, where he'd spent around $12,000 on a circus-themed party for 20 friends. Unfortunately, he'd neglected one important detail: the fact that several of his friends are underage.
When Bieber's pal Jaden Smith, 14, and his rumored girlfriend Ella-Paige Roberts Clarke, 17, showed up for the party, they were refused entrance. Reportedly, members of Bieber's entourage got into an argument with club security over his younger pals, after which they all left in a huff.
"There was never any mention of Jaden being there, so when he showed up, it caused problems," a source told Us Weekly. "They could have stayed if Jaden left, but Justin wanted to be loyal to his good friend."
A club spokesperson confirmed that Bieber was trying to get his underage friends into the club, telling E! News, "we are very sorry, and understand it's his birthday, but our hands are tied with local authorities and rules we need to follow as club to keep our license. We clearly didn't want to give him the 'worst birthday.'"
Other sources claim that the paparazzi was to blame for Bieber's birthday bust. GossipCop notes that two of the singer's pals, Ryan Butler and Alfredo Flores, tweeted angry messages about photographers hounding Justin.
"I mean... I have no words. Paparazzi are disgusting. Wont even allow a 19 year old enjoy his birthday," Flores wrote. " I remember this day all to well 2 years ago in LA. It just won't ever quit. Wish he could just have a few hours..."
Okay, so possible culprits for Bieber's "worst birthday" include club security, Jaden Smith, and the paparazzi. But there's one more: Justin's BFF Lil Twist. The rapper was pulled over and ticketed for unsafe driving on the night of the party. And if you're wondering why Justin would care: Lil Twist was driving his Fisker Karma at the time! This is at least the second time that Twist has been cited for a traffic violation in Justin's expensive car -- and probably didn't help his birthday blues.
Bieber and his friends reportedly headed to McDonald's after abandoning the party, then hung out in Justin's hotel room. Ironically, his fancy teenage party ended up turning into the party of an average teenager!
On Sunday night, Bieber tried to explain his "worst birthday" comment on Instagram.
"The funny moment when people believe I brought underage people to a club.. U think Will [Smith] is letting his 14 year old in a club, I don't think so," Bieber wrote. "2nd I love how the club wanted to give the press another reason to why we didn't stay at their weak ass club so they wouldn't look bad for me walking in and right back out..i said m "worst bday" but that was due to dummies pushing over my fans and being overly aggressive. Btw it wasn't the worst bday cuz all my friends from back home flew in I was just mad in the moment."
