Who Should Replace Ann Curry on 'Today'?

Fellow Today colleagues are believed to be in the running for Curry's anchor gig -- will it be one of them or someone new?

How fast does the morning TV biz move? News of Ann Curry's impending exit from Today is less than a week old, and we're already hearing about who might replace her.

During the last few days, media reports say that a couple of Today associates -- Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb -- are being considered for the job of Matt Lauer's newest sidekick.

The stylish, pretty Guthrie, 40, is the obvious choice, since she's already the go-to fill-in when Curry is absent or on assignment. A lawyer and former Court TV reporter, she's been a Today cohost (starting at the 9 a.m. hour) since last June. So she already knows how to yack it up with the Today anchors and correspondents (a skill that didn't appear to come easily for Curry).

Of course Kotb, 47, and her cohost Kathie Lee Gifford carry out the main hosting duties during Today's lighter, breezier fourth hour. So Kotb is already well-known to viewers. And she has something else in her favor: Her exit from that fourth hour could provide an opportunity for Regis Philbin to come in and reteam with Gifford.

TV Guide reported that NBC execs "loved Philbin and Gifford's on-air reunion last Wednesday." No doubt the network would be thrilled to put that iconic TV combo back together.

First off, NBC and Curry have to negotiate an end to her contract. It was widely reported that the network offered her $10 million severance. According to TMZ, though, Curry has asked for $20 million, which is the full balance on the remainder of her contract.

Depending on how quickly they can work it out, we might be hearing an announcement about a new Today host by the end of the week. Who do you think it should be?
