There's still another month left in the year, but Bing has already released its list of the most-searched celebrities of 2012. Not surprisingly, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus all made the cut -- but who got the top spot?
Maybe it's because of her high-profile new romance or her sexy Twitpics, but plenty of people were searching for reality star Kim Kardashian this year, and she landed in the no. 1 spot.
Kardashian was also the most-searched celebrity in 2010 -- and this year, she regained the top spot from teen star Justin Bieber, who was no. 1 in 2011 and no. 2 on this year's list. The reality star had a busy year, as her post-Kris Humphries love life with Kanye West kept her constantly in the public eye.
Interest in Bieber remained strong this year as a result of the June release of Believe and his relationship with Selena Gomez, which (may have) just ended earlier this month. JB's third studio album swept the American Music Awards on Nov. 18.
Miley Cyrus, who landed a story arc on Two and Half Men in 2012, was the third-most searched celebrity -- probably in part due to her surprising engagement to Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth. (And we're guessing that shocking haircut earned her a few clicks, too!)
Rihanna, a newcomer to the list, took the fourth spot after winning her third Grammy, starring in her first movie ("Battleship"), releasing her seventh album (Unapologetic) and reuniting with her boyfriend who infamously beat her up in 2009, Chris Brown. (The tow took the top spot in the most-searched celebrity couple category).
Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan, who attempted to make a comeback by starring in the ill-received Lifetime biopic of Elizabeth Taylor, Liz & Dick, rounded out the top five of the most-searched celebrity list.
In a year in which the world celebrated the London Olympics, the world's most searched Olympic athletes included Serena Williams in the top spot, followed by hurdler Lolo Jones -- who raised her public profile by announcing that at age 29, she did not believe in premarital sex.
With 2013 on the horizon, one can only wonder if Kardashian will earn her third title as the most-searched celebrity. Of course, she'll have to do some crazy things to keep the public interested -- but we're guessing she's up to the challenge!
