Why doesn't my cake bake in a convection oven?

Dear Baker:
I have a new convection oven and my cakes do not bake very well. What should I do? --iVillager nancy99

Dear nancy99:
Cakes do not bake well in a convection oven, and are best baked in a conventional oven. (Cookies, on the other hand, bake nicely in a convection oven.) Lower the temperature by 25 to 50 degrees when going from conventional oven to convection.
