Ask the Lactation Consultant: Why is my baby fussy -- and what can I do?

One of the really nice things about breastfeeding is that each time your baby feeds, he gets nutrition as well as comfort. It's not important to separate the two activities; I'm not even sure you could. Whether your baby is hungry or just looking for comfort, you're satisfying the extremely important biological, social and spiritual needs of your child. Be happy that they are met so beautifully and completely by the single activity of breastfeeding.
