The latest move in the Kardashian family's ongoing bid to dominate the world? Fifty-seven-year-old matriarch Kris Jenner has signed a deal to host her own talk show, Kris. Several Fox-owned stations in cities such as New York and L.A. will air the daily one hour gab fest (with celeb interviews and discussions on lifestyle, fashion and beauty trends) for six weeks this summer.
What will differentiate Kris from Katie, Bethenny, and Ellen? (Or, for that matter, from The Wendy Williams Show, The Steve Harvey Show and The Jeff Probst Show, among others?) Why, "the distinctive and unpredictable perspective of Kris Jenner," of course! At least that's what the press release says.
We're definitely excited to see how the show turns out -- but nearly as excited as Kris. "This is something I have wanted to do all my life, so it’s definitely a dream come true!" she says in the statement.
So how will she use that distinctive perspective to her advantage? Well, we can't see Kris covering any hard-hitting news stories or asking the tough questions like Oprah Winfrey or Barbra Walters. But when it comes to high-wattage guests and juicy conversation topics, we predict that Jenner will have a definite edge in the talk show game.
She's already surrounded by celebrities, so finding guests shouldn't be a problem. Her husband Bruce is a decathlon champion and Wheaties box icon. All of her children are reality stars to one extent or another. Kim, Kourtney and Khloe may be the Kardashians that most E! viewers want to keep up with, but Rob almost won Dancing with the Stars. And while Kendall and Kylie no doubt dashed the hopes of millions when they revealed that they are not getting their own spinoff show, they're already gracing magazine covers. So can their own show be far behind?
Plus, Kris knows NFL stars Reggie Bush and Kris Humphries and rappers Ray J and Kanye West (thanks, Kim!); and NBA star Lamar Odom (thanks Khloe!). With the possible exception of Kim's exes, who may conveniently find scheduling conflicts that prevent them from appearing, the celeb guest pool is already pretty deep!
As for lifestyle discussions, she could have dozens of show topics based on her family alone! If there's a hot button issue to be had, the Kardashians have experienced it: Sex tapes, plastic surgery, quickie marriages, family secrets, contentious divorce, psoriasis, pregnancy, fertility issues, body odor and Botox, to name just a few. Plus, anyone who watches Keeping Up with the Kardashians knows there are no topics that Kris considers too personal for TV.
Congratulations, Kris! This show can't not be interesting!
