Unlike most winners of the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise, newly engaged couple Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez seem like they may actually make it to the altar. Even better: They may let us watch!
On Thursday's Live! with Regis and Kelly, the 25-year-old Bachelorette star and her winning man said that they were considering a televised ceremony. "We've talked about it a little bit," Fedotowsky admitted when asked. "Definitely a possibility."
But the former Facebook executive promises that it's "not because we want to be on TV again." She makes the case that having a televised wedding would be -- well, practical.
"Weddings are expensive and he has a huge family," Fedotowsky explained, referring to fiance Martinez. "When I met his mom, she said 700 people will be at it! We figure we are in love. We can invest that money [that would be spent on the wedding] and invest our whole lives."
Smart thinking -- and Kelly Ripa agreed, chiming in, "Let ABC pay for it!"
We think a TV wedding would be refreshing, after the messy aftermath of Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi left us feeling pretty cynical about reality TV love. Remember, The Bachelorette's only successful marriage -- between season 1's Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter -- began with an over-the-top televised wedding, and is still going strong today. And earlier this year, notorious Bachelor Jason Mesnick wed his second-choice girl, Molly Malaney, in another televised ceremony.
We think Ali and Roberto should join in the fun, save some retirement money and give America a chance to see her wedding dress!
