NBC has approached actress Helen Hunt as a possible replacement for Maura Tierney on the upcoming Parenthood drama.

As you know, Tierney had to bow out from the show to undergo treatment for breast cancer.

Hunt hasn’t been a regular on television since playing Jamie Buchman on Mad About You, which landed her four Emmy’s and three Golden Globes in the process.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hunt is “considering” the offer.

Parenthood was scheduled for a fall debut but has been pushed back to midseason in order to find a replacement for Tierney, who was in the pilot episode.

The television series is an adaptation of the 1989 movie starring Steve Martin and Mary Steenburgen.

If Hunt accepts the role, she would play Sarah and work alongside Dax Shepard, Erika Christensen, Peter Krause and Craig T. Nelson.

You couldn’t ask for a better replacement for Tierney than Hunt. After Mad About You went off in 1999, Hunt has been in several films (What Women Want, Bobby, Cast Away) and has spent time behind the camera as a director.

Do you think Hunt will have the same success on Parenthood as she did with Mad About You if she accepts the role?
