If history has taught us anything, it's that when Taylor Swift performs at an awards show, she'll be singing a thinly veiled song about a famous guy. At last year's Country Music Awards, she performed the Joe Jonas-inspired "Forever and Always." At this year's MTV Video Music Awards, she sang the Kanye West-inspired "Innocent." So now that this year's CMAs are fast approaching on Wednesday, which man in the country star's life will get the spotlight? According to UsMagazine.com, that honor goes to Taylor Lautner.
The website reports that Swift, 20, will perform her new single "Back to December," which is believed to be about her short-lived romance with Twilight star Lautner. In the song, Swift sings that she regrets ending her relationship with a guy who has "tan skin" and a "sweet smile." Here's a sample verse:
These days I haven't been sleeping
Staying up playing back myself leaving
When your birthday passed and I didn't call
And I think about summer, all the beautiful times
I watched you laughing from the passenger side and,
Realized I loved you in the fall
And then the cold came, the dark days when fear crept into my mind
You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye
The song sounds remorseful, but lately, Taylor Swift seems to be bouncing back with a certain other sweet-smiled actor: Jake Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal, 29, has been spotted on a few adorable dates (ice cream, apple-picking) with the country singer in recent weeks. However, neither one will confirm or deny their relationship (a familiar pattern with Swift, who has generally refused to talk about any of her relationships until they were over).
In fact, Gyllenhaal is going out of his way to dodge questions about Swift. At a press conference this week for his new film Love & Other Drugs, his costar Anne Hathaway interrupted his awkward silence in response to a question about Swift by pretending to yell at the reporter who asked Jake about Taylor.
"Hang on, hang on, I have to say something! I have been Jake's onscreen love interest for years, all right?" joked his former Brokeback Mountain co-star. "You keep the conversation to me and only me, otherwise I'm going to get nasty!" He did admit to iVillage that it's "always tricky getting a girl" -- despite Hathaway calling his bluff. We don't know if Anne Hathaway is planning on bailing him out at the Country Music Awards, but she may not have to; according to Us Weekly, the actor won't be attending. The Country Music Association Awards will air at 8 p.m. on Nov. 10 on ABC.
