William and Kate Announce Wedding Party

Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen their bridal party and it should come as no surprise that William has selected his brother Harry as his best man while Kate bestowed maid of honor duties on her sister Pippa (both pictured, above).

Smart move selecting siblings to do the honors; they usually have your best interest at heart and will  make sure everything goes smoothly. Among Pippa's top jobs will be keeping the much-talked-about-but-yet-unseen wedding gown displayed properly. We're guessing she'll also be behind the scenes getting in one final look to make sure everything's perfect before her sis heads down the aisle.

As for Harry, he presumably will stand next to his older brother and hold onto the rings until the right time. Jokester that he is known to be, hopefully he won't end up patting his pockets in that always terrifying moment when the best man can't seem to remember where he placed those precious bands.

The rest of the wedding party will consist of a host of little ones filling the roles of bridesmaids and pageboys, as is British tradition.

Among those preceding the bride down the aisle will be:

-- Lady Louise Windsor, 7, the daughter of William's Uncle Edward and his wife, Sophie, who are the Earl and Countess of Wessex
-- Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, 8, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth's nephew Viscount Linley and his wife, Serena
-- Grace van Cutsem, 3, the daughter of Hugh van Cutsem, a good pal of the couple's
-- Eliza Lopes, 3, the granddaughter of Prince Charles' wife, Camilla. Eliza is the child of Camilla's daughter, Laura
-- Tom Pettifer, 8, a godchild of William's and the son of his former nanny, Tiggy
-- William Lowther-Pinkerton, 10, son of Jamie Lowther-Pinker, who is the private secretary of princes William and Harry

The older children will likely do fine but it's always risky having youngsters in the wedding. Of course the wee ones are adorable, but there's the chance they will be overwhelmed -- don't forget there will be 5,000 guests at this wedding!

Still, some brides and grooms don't mind when kids act like kids. And they can rest assured that no matter how unruly the kids end up being, there's no way their antics will overshadow the real stars of the show.
