Athletes' Winter Olympics Nail Art Takes the Gold

Flags, initials and Olympic rings are just some of the cool mani designs atheletes are sporting

True, the world’s top athletes are dazzling us with their incredible athletic feats in Sochi, Russia, during the 2014 Winter Games, but they’re also showing off seriously stylish nail art that deserves a trip to the fashion winner’s podium, too. Here are seven competitors who deserve mani medals.

The skier who took good in Sochi for the alpine women’s super combined slalom, also served as Germany’s flag-bearer during the opening ceremony, sporting nails decorated like her country’s flag, along with an accent nail showing off the Olympic rings.

Wust took gold in the women’s 3,000-meter speed skating competition, and, while we can’t say for certain that her red, white and blue nails (the colors of her country’s flag) – with medal gold pinkies – helped her win, they definitely couldn’t have hurt.

Anna Willcox-Silfverberg, New Zealand

Rocking black and white nails, possibly a nod to New Zealand’s famed All Blacks rugby team, with “N” and “Z” details, the freestyle skier finished 15th in the women’s ski slopestyle competition.
