Now that you’re not a panic-stricken newbie anymore, it may occur to you that not everything your tot touches needs to be surgically sterilized, and that a crying baby is not the end of the world. When your first baby dropped her bottle, you may have dumped out the contents and fetched a new one posthaste. With two in tow, the "five second rule" can seem both safe and sensible. You may wait a whole 10 minutes after catching a whiff of a dirty diaper before changing it, or opt for a sponge bath over full submersion four nights in a row (really, how dirty can a baby get anyway?). You’ll laugh to yourself at the neurotic new moms you know who still obsess over these things.
