Why you should see it: It's the grandmommy of all chick flicks! This remake of the 1939 classic, which featured an entirely female cast, stars Ryan as Mary, whose happy world comes crashing down when she finds out her beloved hubby is having an affair with perfume saleswoman Crystal (Mendes). Mary's gossipy girlfriends try to rally around her as they all head off for a spa weekend, but with frenemies like these...
Box office bottom line: Sex and the City's box office performance proved that, despite many stories to the contrary, the chick flick is not dead. Director and updated screenplay writer Diane English spent more than a decade trying to get The Women into theaters (Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts were among those attached along the way), which means chicks everywhere should turn out for this flick.
