Beauty, they say, is pain. But it’s also really, really embarrassing.
Because it’s one thing to let your man see you apply mascara, blowdry your hair or rub on lotion each morning – but allowing him an up-close view while you wax, pluck and shave? Go ahead and up that “pain” to “torture.”
Among them: Shaving or plucking toe, chin and other body hair, waxing or dying moustaches and scraping dry skin from feet. Attractive!
Also making the list: Plucking eyebrows, waxing or shaving the bikini line, plucking nose hairs, cleansing, toning and moisturizing, cutting toenails, using anti-aging creams, putting toothpaste on blemishes, applying face masks, exfoliating, tinting eyelashes and brows, using anti-cellulite cream.
Most women responded these things, along with wearing shapewear, whitening teeth or padding their bras, are things they hope their partners are never clued in on, the newspaper adds. Some 66 percent say they assume they’ve kept their other halves in the dark about all this upkeep, while 33 percent say it’s all an absolute secret.
Perhaps that’s why 35 percent report that they think their partner would freak at the site or knowledge of these grooming habits, the Daily Mail reports.
“This study shows just how private women are about their beauty regimes,' a spokesperson tells the newspaper. “No one wants their partner to think they aren't naturally beautiful with wonderful smooth skin.”
It's hard to argue for including an audience on these private tasks, but, still, we’d be interested in finding out how long these women have been with their mates. Because, really, after 10 years of marriage, aren’t most privacy bets off?
Except for shaving toes. Unless you’re a hobbit, that’s one secret we should all take to the grave.
