Woody Allen: I Would Work with "Gifted" Lindsay Lohan

The legendary filmmaker says that while he hasn't cast the actress in a movie yet, he "wouldn't hesitate" because LiLo is "very talented"

Lindsay Lohan is still having her share of problems, but she's got a new celebrity in her corner: Woody Allen. Back in May, the troubled actress and the Oscar-winning filmmaker were spotted together in New York City, having what one movie blog referred to as "the strangest dinner date of all time." In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Allen, 76, denied rumors that he was casting Lohan, 25, in a film -- but said he wouldn't hesitate to do so if the right project came along.

"I wouldn't hesitate to use (Lindsay) in a movie because she's a very talented girl," Allen said at the premiere of his new comedy, To Rome with Love.

The Midnight in Paris director said that his meal with Lindsay in May was simply "a social dinner," but described the young actress as "a very gifted girl."

"I would not hesitate if I had something for her," he declared. "I'd certainly call her."

As for that pesky issue of insurance, the filmmaker (who never works with a hefty budget) said that it wouldn't be a concern, because he has faith in Lohan's work ethic.

"I mean, if there was some reason that I couldn't, that would be a different story, some legal reason, but it would not concern me personally, no," said Allen. "I think that she'd be just fine and she'd do a great job."

Woody isn't the only celebrity to come out in support of LiLo this weekend. Porn star James Deen, who will be costarring with Lohan in her upcoming thriller The Canyons, told E! News that he's "super excited" about sharing a screen with the Mean Girls actress.

"The only negative thing I've ever heard about her is in the press," said Deen, 26. "Honestly, everyone I know who's actually worked with her has nothing but nice things to say."

On Friday, Lohan was treated by paramedics after being found unconscious in her hotel room. Her rep assured the press that she was simply exhausted from the nonstop filming of her lifetime movie Liz & Dick. On Saturday, Lindsay echoed that sentiment on her Twitter.

"Note to self.. After working 85hours in 4days, and being up all night shooting, be very aware that you might pass out from exhaustion & 7 paramedics MIGHT show up @ your door," Lohan tweeted. "Hopefully theyre cute. Otherwise it would be a real let down."
