For many of us, bringing work home is the norm, but if you take your business to bed, you may end up paying for it the next day. When you’re crunching numbers or preparing a presentation, you’re typically in a high state of alert, with your mind whirring and stress levels spiking—pretty much the opposite of what you want for restful sleep. “If you tend to stress over the details, work in another room and when you feel the [first] wave of sleep, close the books and leave it for tomorrow,” suggest Dr. Lombardo. Or, stop your work an hour before bed and take some time to unwind.
