Brilliant! Jimmy Kimmel Managed to Prank the Entire Internet with a Twerking Video

The late night host admitted he was behind the viral video that features a girl catching fire when she tries to twerk!

What does it take to be a super cool, late night talk show host? If you're Jimmy Fallon, it's digital shorts that go viral. And if you're Jimmy Kimmel, it's... pranking the entire Internet.

Chances are, you're familiar with the viral video of a young woman named Caitlin Heller, whose attempts at twerking led to disaster -- and over 9 million page views. You know, it's the clip that Buzzfeed called "the most epic twerk fail of all time." The one that local news anchors laughingly picked up on nationwide, and which led some to blame Miley Cyrus for the dangerous consequences of a fad she supposedly made popular?

Turns out, the twerking accident was actually an elaborate hoax, perpetrated by Kimmel, with the help of a stunt woman named Daphne Avalon. Watch Kimmel explaining his trick on Monday's Jimmy Kimmel Live:

"We shot the video about two months ago," Kimmel said. In other words, it hit the web well before Cyrus supposedly introduced the trend to the world's population (or at least to a bunch of previously clueless parents) via the MTV Video Music Awards.

"We put it up and didn't send it to any TV station," Kimmel said. "I didn't tweet it, we didn't put it on any websites. We just put it up on YouTube and let the magic happen." Ah, yes, the unique magic of the Internet age!

But could Kimmel's Internet magic bring about some positive change in our pop culture? “Thank you for helping us deceive the world and hopefully put an end to twerking forever," Kimmel said. Now that would be some magic we'd pay to see.
